If you want to direct a domain that you have to some other domain name or subdomain, one way to do that would be to use a CNAME record. By creating such a record, the domain being redirected loses all of its records (A, MX, etc) and instead, it takes the A record of the Internet domain it is forwarded to. In this way, if you are using a web design service by some provider that gives you a subdomain, you can use an actual domain and not only will it be redirected to the site which you have set up, but it will also appear in the Internet browser address bar at all times. Alternative possible uses of a CNAME record are to direct all the targeted traffic from different subdomains to their main domain name, or to use the webmail service of your hosting provider by using webmail.your-doman.com, for instance. The latter will work only by setting up a CNAME record for a subdomain because this kind of a record created for the main domain address renders it impossible to use email addresses.

CNAME Records in Shared Hosting

Creating a CNAME record using our shared service is really simple. Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel includes a section devoted to the DNS records of your domain addresses, so you can set up a new CNAME record for any domain or subdomain hosted within your account in only a few easy steps. You will find a video tutorial within the same section where you can see the process first-hand. This feature provides you with many possibilities - if you create a company site on our end, for instance, the workers can use their emails with the company domain name, not with the address of our mail server. If you choose to set up a site using a different company which offers online web design services, you can easily redirect a domain hosted here and use it for the site. Last, but not least, if you have a web-based store and you have a billing system for http://your-domain.com and/or an SSL certificate, you'll be able to set up a CNAME record for the www subdomain and direct it to the main domain, so all your customers will be forwarded to a secure URL.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

You're going to be able to create, edit and delete CNAME records very easy with any one of our semi-dedicated server plans. The accounts are handled using the custom Hepsia hosting Control Panel, and in one of its sections you'll see all records for every domain name or subdomain that you have added in your account. To create a new record, you only have to select the hostname that'll be forwarded (domain/subdomain), enter where it will be forwarded to, select the record type, that will be CNAME in this case, and you are going to be ready. Even if you haven't used a web hosting service before, our Control Panel is extremely easy to use, so you'll not have any troubles. We also have a short video and an in-depth help article concerning how to create a CNAME record, both of which could be found in the same section of Hepsia. With this function, you could easily use a domain address hosted on our innovative cloud hosting platform for a site created somewhere else, set up a custom webmail login address with any of your domains, plus much more.
